Mountain’s Echo Photography

The Brief

Mountain’s Echo Photography is my own adventure, travel, and health & fitness photography brand, built to showcase two years of photographs from mountains, trails, and travels, and to offer both photography and website design as professional services.

Unlike client work, this project started with a blank page in every sense: no existing brand, no existing content structure, and no one to answer the strategy questions but me. The goal was to build a website that feels like standing on a ridgeline, and functions like a business.

The Challenge

Photography websites carry a unique tension: they need to be visually immersive without becoming slow, heavy, or hard to navigate. Going in, the site needed to:

  • Present a large, growing photo library without sacrificing page speed
  • Establish a brand identity completely from scratch: name, voice, visuals
  • Serve two audiences at once: people looking for a photographer, and businesses looking for a website designer
  • Stand apart from templated photography sites that all look the same
  • Stay easy to update as new adventures (and new photos) roll in

There was also the challenge every designer knows: being your own client. No deadlines but your own, and every decision open for endless second-guessing.

Scope of Work

The primary objective was to create a website that:

  • Showcases adventure, travel, and health & fitness photography in a way that feels alive
  • Clearly communicates photography services
  • Makes it easy for visitors to inquire and book
  • Supports SEO and long-term discoverability
  • Reflects the spirit of the brand — the mountains, the movement, the echo of places worth remembering
  • Grows effortlessly as the portfolio grows

Tools Used:

The Solution

I led every part of this project: brand development, strategy, design, development, photography, and copywriting, from first sketch to launch.

Strategic Foundation

  • Developed the brand identity from the ground up: naming, visual direction, and voice
  • Created wireframes and sitemaps to balance two goals: portfolio showcase and service inquiries
  • Structured navigation around:
    • Photo galleries: Field Notes
    • Photography services
    • About & contact

Design & Development

  • Built the site on WordPress using Elementor Pro, with:
    • Custom layouts designed around the photography, not squeezed on top of it
    • Reusable templates for galleries and service pages
    • A consistent visual language carried across every page
  • Prioritized image performance
  • Implemented responsive design best practices so photos look just as striking on a phone at a trailhead as on a desktop

Advanced Functionality & Integrations

  • Inquiry and Booking from connection with Bloom.io
  • Structured galleries for SEO and long-term content growth

Content & Copy

  • Wrote all site copy in a voice that’s genuinely mine: personal, warm, and rooted in the outdoors
  • Curated two years of photography down to the images that tell the strongest story
  • Built content structures that guide visitors from admiring the work to reaching out

Results & Impact

Launched in June 2026, Mountain’s Echo Photography is the site I’m proudest of building, and the one that feels the most like me.

  • A photography portfolio that loads fast and feels immersive
  • A brand and platform ready to grow with every new adventure

An Evolving Portfolio

Unlike a client handoff, this site will never be “done”, and that’s the point. Every trip, every trail, and every shoot adds to it. The site was built to make that growth effortless: new galleries, new stories, new echoes.

Why This Project Matters

This project sits at the intersection of everything I do: photography, design, strategy, and a life spent outdoors. It’s proof of what happens when a website is built with genuine love for the subject: it doesn’t just display the work, it echoes it. And for potential clients, it’s the clearest demonstration of what I can build when given creative freedom.
