The Nock Point

The Brief

The Nock Point is a for-profit archery range and pro shop located in Mountlake Terrace, Washington. As a sister company to Next Step Archery, The Nock Point serves competitive shooters, recreational archers, and bow hunters—offering range access, memberships, and retail equipment.

The goal of this project was to redesign and restructure the website to clearly communicate the range experience, retail offerings, and membership options while differentiating the brand from its nonprofit counterpart.

The Challenge

The previous website had been built nearly a decade ago and offered minimal information. Key challenges included:

  • Outdated pricing

  • Limited clarity on services and range access

  • No strong distinction between The Nock Point and Next Step Archery

  • Weak SEO presence

  • Lack of structure for memberships and retail offerings

Because The Nock Point operates as a for-profit pro shop and range—distinct from Next Step’s educational nonprofit focus—the website needed to clearly define its own identity while still allowing natural cross-navigation for lessons and events.

Scope of Work

The primary objectives were to:

  • Establish a clear, standalone identity for The Nock Point

  • Outline range access, memberships, and retail offerings

  • Improve SEO visibility for local archers and bow hunters

  • Create a clean homepage that immediately communicates services

  • Build a scalable website capable of future e-commerce integration

The Solution

I led the redesign from strategy through launch, ensuring the site reflected both professionalism and clarity.

Brand Refinement & Visual Direction

  • Expanded the existing black and gold brand palette

  • Introduced a red accent color for contrast and energy

  • Created a mood board to guide future design consistency

  • Captured the majority of photography used across the site

Structure & Content Strategy

  • Rebuilt the homepage to clearly outline:

    • Range access

    • Membership options

    • Retail offerings

  • Created a dedicated section for monthly memberships

  • Clarified distinctions between The Nock Point and Next Step Archery

  • Edited and refined collaborative copy to improve clarity and flow

Technical Build & Future Scalability

  • Developed the site using WordPress + Elementor Pro

  • Hosted on SiteGround

  • Built with future e-commerce in mind

  • Initially integrated WooCommerce for an online store, later removed due to launch-related server conflicts and because it was not yet needed

  • Created custom event fields to support future event growth

  • Integrated Instagram feed for ongoing community engagement

The structure allows for seamless expansion if The Nock Point chooses to implement an online store in the future.

Results & Impact

Since launch, May 2025, The Nock Point has received significant positive feedback from both employees and customers. Visitors consistently report that:

  • Information is easier to find

  • Membership details are clearly outlined

  • Pricing and services are transparent

  • The website feels professional and aligned with the in-store experience

The redesign has strengthened The Nock Point’s identity as a professional retail and range destination while improving discoverability and usability.

Ongoing Partnership

The Nock Point website remains under ongoing maintenance, allowing updates, refinements, and future feature expansion as the business grows.

Why This Project Matters

This redesign clarified The Nock Point’s identity as a professional archery range and pro shop, making it easier for customers to understand memberships, range access, and retail offerings while creating a scalable foundation for future growth.
